four score and five

Last Thursday, we had a little surprise birthday bash for Gramps. We had a nice little group of people over, some seniors, some not seniors, and enjoyed a delicious brunch courtesy of my Mother. Wes and I got to play waiter and waitress.

Gramps did a great job as the birthday boy, gave a few speeches and opened his birthday presents in front of us all so we could oooh and ahh and eat some of his cookies.

Today Grampa turns eighty-five. I am very thankful for the years we have had with him and for the memories we have made.  I still chuckle at so many of those memories we made on our last road trip with them, joy unspeakable still being a highlight.

Gramps has reached eighty-five very gracefully and with a peace that passes my understanding. He is one of my heroes and one of the lives I look at to follow.

So many verses come to mind when I think of him but I think I’ll sign off with this one. Gray hair is a crown of splendor; it is attained by a righteous life.

About A Story of Us

My grandparents 57th wedding anniversary and my first wedding anniversary motivated to journal the adventures life brought our way . I hope to amuse the friends and family I have all over the country and, when I am my grandmothers age, look back at what I have written and chuckle. It's been four years since I began and the snickers I bring myself as I look back propel me to write on. Cheers to the future and happy memories of the past.
